Just Downloaded Chrome On School Computer

I did something bad. The new Kinja update doesn't work with these computers running IE8. I couldn't take it. I downloaded Chrome. It is so much faster. I'm in love!

Do they take flash drives? You might set up PortableApps to keep a browser and some stuff...

I was just about to recommend portable versions. That's what I do at work to avoid the IT police from knowing I use chrome.

Yeah I used to use it all the time at college, where DeepFreeze resets the machines when you reboot. I had a secure file container, password keeper, VLC, browser (though I used Firefox at the time) and other fun stuff. Also bootable Linux, but that was more of a novelty. Now my brother uses PortableApps at the same college and even has a portable Minecraft executable somehow. It's all pretty handy stuff.

In my place of work, I chew people out if they DO use IE.... We all have Chrome...

Good to know... I think that they clear all these downloads every once in a while... I'll do that and simply erase this Chrome before they notice

I was a huge advocate of Chrome when it first came out. Since then it has become as bloated as any other firefox (which is to say not very, but it started out as a truly remarkably lightweight browser), and because Google owns it a lot of addons won't work with Youtube, I.E. adblock sometimes doesn't work with it and you can't use a flash video grabber on it. Despite being a Firefox hater for many years, I recently decided to convert because of these issues and haven't looked back.

The main reason I use it is uniformity... it is on my phone, tablet, PC, laptop, and now school PC... it is nice easily sharing favorites and bookmarks....
